Gail Ann Caruso, age 86, formally of Waterbury and Wolcott, passed away on March 25, 2025 in Ingraham Manor Nursing Home, Bristol, CT, surrounded by her children. She was the wife of the late Bernard Caruso, Sr.
Gail was born August 22, 1938 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Alice (Crandall) and Joseph Gabriel. She was a stay-at-home mom while raising her children, working part-time at the family grocery store, Caruso’s Market. Then went on to work in the medical billing field in Waterbury and New Haven.
Gail and Bernie moved from Waterbury to Clinton in 1989 to be by the water. They looked forward to retiring and living out their days watching the boats in the harbor, unfortunately, Bernie passed away a few short years of moving there and Gail moved back to Wolcott to be closer to her family.
Gail, also know as Grandma Gail, loved life and never passed up an opportunity to sing and dance. She was always ready to lend a helping hand. Everyone lucky enough to meet and get to know Gail loved her. She will be missed greatly by her family and the family she had at Ingraham Manor. Thank you to the staff at Ingraham who managed her care. A special thank you to our “Earth Angels”, Erin, Sophie, Noreen and Lisa. All Angels don’t have physical wings yet.
Gail leaves her children Diane Biolo (Gary) of SC, Bernie Jr. (Anne) and Mary Caruso of FL and Carolyn Caruso of ME, her sister Shirley Bouffard (Richard) of Litchfield, a granddaughter Stephanie Manfredo and 3 grandsons Joseph Caruso, Steven Reuter, Matthew Bokon, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Ryan Reuter, her sisters Barbara Walcott and Theodora (Teddie) Bernabi LaFache.
Funeral arrangements will be private at the convenience of the family.
