Daniel E. Reynolds III

Daniel Edward Reynolds III of Marion passed away Sunday May 7, 2023, at the age of 76. Dan was born on December 21, 1946, in New Britain. He was the son of the late Daniel E. Reynolds Jr. and Carmella (Tavalozzi) Reynolds. He graduated from Southington High School in 1964. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Soldiers Medal for saving an elderly South Vietnamese man from drowning in a swift flowing river during monsoon season.

Dan worked for Pratt & Whitney for 44 years, retiring in 2010. He had coached baseball for the Southern Southington Baseball league and the Southington Girl’s Softball league. He loved Sports and was an avid Yankee fan. He was a devoted husband and loving father and a hard worker. He was also a major advocate for veterans and helped guide many veterans to resources for acknowledging and coping with PTSD.

He was a member of St. Aloysious Church, Plantsville. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (the Irish Club) in Meriden and the American Legion of Southington. Dan was a former member of the VFW post 511 of New Britain and of the Connecticut Accordion Association.

He is survived by his spouse Geraldine Cosgrove-Reynolds and his four children, Carrie Ann Giacchi and her husband Gianni of Plantsville, Joey Reynolds and his wife Jillian Reynolds of Bristol, Daniel E. Reynolds IV of Marion and Colleen Diaz and her husband Jeremy of Meriden. He is also survived by grandchildren Lindsie and Keenan Esau of Plantsville, Anthony Luzmoor of Bristol and Jayden Diaz of Meriden, his sister JoAnn Rice and Rick of Plantsville and adopted Brother Johnny Tavalozzi and his wife Elaine Tavalozzi of Middletown and his Aunt Jean Tavalozzi of Southington along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

His funeral will be held on Friday, May 12th at 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
