Carole S. Milano

Carole S. Milano, 87, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Southington Care Center. Born on Bridgeport, CT, on August 24, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Lucy (Marino) Sena.

Carole's interest in theater sparked at a young age, where she performed locally in her hometown of Bridgeport and on Ted Mack's "The Original Amateur Hour," an early television variety show. After attending Central High School in Bridgeport, she married and moved to New Britain with her husband and studied acting at The Hartford Conservatory. During the 1960s, she performed in the Conservatory's touring theater group which brought live theater to many school children who had never experienced it before. In addition to her dramatic acting skills, Carole had a beautiful singing voice and performed leading roles in musicals such as South Pacific, My Fair Lady, Promises, Promises and Showboat. As a way to manage the stressors of performing and raising a family, Carole studied Yoga, earning her certification as an instructor and began teaching Yoga at regional YWCAs and YMCAs. Her focus on the continuum between physical and mental health inspired many students. In 1970, Carole moved with her family to Southington and as a dedicated volunteer in her community is perhaps how she will be best remembered. She established the Southington Arts Council in 1982, worked tirelessly over the years to enrich the lives of others by creating cultural opportunities through numerous and varied programs in the creative arts. In appreciation for her years of service and vision of promoting the cultural arts in the community, an official proclamation from the Southington Town Council in June 2018 honored Carole for her legacy of contributions on behalf of the people of Southington.

Carole is survived and will be dearly missed by her family; daughter Stephanie Milano-Parsons and husband David Parsons, son Christopher Milano, her brother Peter Sena and wife Dawn Sena, granddaughter Hillary Parsons and Husband Nicolas Corcoran, and several nephews, cousins and cherished friends. Carole was predeceased by her husband, Anthony L. Milano; her sisters, Diane (Sena) Crenshaw, Kathleen Sena, and brother-in-law Thomas Crenshaw, Sr.

A visitation for Carole will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington, CT 06489. A celebration of life will follow at the funeral home to begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association by visiting www.alz.org.
