Prior to living in New Britain, Barbara lived in Springdale, CT for over 28 years, Trumbull, CT for 20 years, Algonquin, IL. Sarasota, FL and Sun City Hilton Head, Bluffton SC.
Daughter of the late Oscar O. Moody and Helen Fry Moody, she was born on October 24, 1934 in Saranac Lake, New York. She was raised in Springdale CT, and graduated from Stamford High School in 1952.
She married her beloved John D. Weaver Sr. on July 28, 1957 who predeceased her. They raised 4 children in Springdale, and Trumbull CT. She was a parishioner of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Stamford CT and the Church of the Cross, Bluffton, SC.
She worked at Cooke Engraving and Machlett Laboratories in Stamford, CT. Caldor’s, Trumbull CT, and later Illinois Lock Company as the credit and collections supervisor before retiring in 2001.
She enjoyed her family, grandkids, nieces and nephews; her trip to Hawaii, and baking (we will all miss her chicken parm). Her practice of traditions and family values were important, and she was a great role model to all. In this digital age, she was known to still send cards for every occasion. She kept the connection with our Colorado Weaver relatives through her cards, letters, and regular phone calls to her sister-in-law Bettie Weaver. Mom was meticulous. In the way that she maintained her home, and her appearance.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Nunes of Woodbridge, CT. Sons John D. Weaver III of Groton, CT, Christopher Drew Weaver and wife Sulan of Elgin, IL, and Andrew Scott Weaver and wife Kim of Henniker, NH. 7 grandchildren Dr. Lauren Weaver Nolan and husband Dr. Jimmy Nolan of West Hartford, CT, Jacqueline and Christopher Nunes of Woodbridge, CT, Abigail and Charlene of Henniker, NH, and Amber and Christopher Weaver Jr. of Elgin, IL.
She is also survived by her two brothers, Bruce Moody and wife Carol of Tolland, CT, USN Retired Commander, Richard A. Moody of Purcellville, VA, and 19 nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her sister Martha Moody Kosinski of Wilton, CT.
A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington CT has been entrusted with Barbara’s arrangements.
