Anthony L. Milano, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully at Autumn Lake Health Care at New Britain on August 10, 2023. Born on July 12, 1931 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the only child of Anthony Gasper Milano and Linda Scanzillo Milano.
Following his graduation from Fairfield Preparatory School, he served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 aboard the USS Shenandoah during the Korean War. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Teacher’s College of CT (Central CT State University) and began a distinguished career as an Industrial Arts Teacher with a specialty in Graphic Arts and Photography for the Manchester Board of Education in 1959, serving as Department Head and retiring from Bennet Jr. High School in 1992. During his tenure, he was especially proud of spearheading the integration of the Industrial Arts and Home Economics Department, allowing both girls and boys to choose either electives; eliminating the pre-determined groupings based on traditional gender roles.
Anthony became a Freemason in 1968 and was elected master of Sequin Lodge #140 AF & AM in Newington, CT in 1976. He enjoyed involvement with community theater- lending his talents with set construction and painting- serving as President for both The New Britain Repertory and Myth Farmington Theaters during the 1970’s.
Anthony is survived by his wife Carole of 66 years, his daughter Stephanie Milano-Parsons and husband David Parsons, son Christopher Anthony Milano, granddaughter Hillary Parsons and husband Nicholas Corcoran, brother-in-law Peter Sena and wife dawn Sena, and several nieces and nephews.
