Phil was a life-long resident of Bucks County, PA, living in Buckingham for most of his life. He was born on August 18, 1942 in Philadelphia, to George and Dorothy David. He graduated from William Tennent High School in 1960. He continued his education at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, graduating in 1964.
Following graduation, he served 5 years in the Navy during the Vietnam war. During his service, Phil was honored to march in President John F. Kennedy’s inauguration, and at the president’s funeral. After his time in the Navy, he spent 25 years with Johnson & Johnson before retiring.
Phil’s service to country and community continued in his retirement. He was a founding member of Lookaway Golf Course in Buckingham, PA, served on the Heritage Conservancy land development committee, volunteered at the Travis Manion Foundation and The Molan House, participated for 29 years in the local Adopt a Highway program where on many an occasion he enlisted his ‘Monday night’ friends and grandchildren to assist in roadside cleanups. He was on the building committee for Redeemer Lutheran Church where he later served in an administrative capacity.
Phil was passionate about golf and skiing. In January 2023, he achieved his lifelong objective of skiing for free at Killington as an 80 year old. He traveled throughout Europe with his wife, Joanne, where they enjoyed many river cruises. More than anything, Phil loved spending time with family and adored each of his 4 grandchildren.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, George A. David and Dorothy Milligan David.
Phil is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Joanne Cooper David, his son Mark David and wife Te, daughter Kellie David Hastings and husband, Rich, his brother, George David, grandchildren: Jack Porter, Brandon David, Kate Porter, Brook David, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 9, 2023, 11 am – 12:00noon, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2100 York Road, Jamison, PA. This will be followed by a celebration of life at the church. Family and friends are invited to join Phil’s inurnment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA, immediately following the service.
