Nellie was born on March 28, 1924, in Staffordshire England. The seventh of nine children born to Robert Edward and Ellen Robinson Carbutt. Nellie was the wife of the late Harry Sharples to whom she was married for 52 years. Nellie and Harry came to the USA in 1953. They lived in Bensalem, PA and Penndel, PA. Nellie moved to Churchville, PA in 1998 to be with her daughter Pam.
She served in the British Army ATS for five years during WWII as a predictor operator on the Heavy Anti-Aircraft gun sites. She was the recipient of the War Medal and the Defense Medal.
Nellie enjoyed travelling and went back to England many times to visit her family. She was a member of Redemption Episcopal Church and used her creative talents in many charity projects.
Survived by her daughter Pam Kops (Joseph Stefanelli) and her son David Sharples (Victoria Josko), four grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Kops, David Sharples (Aubrey), and Douglas Sharples (Lexy Melancon).
Predeceased by her husband Harry, three sons and her six brothers (George, John, Frank, Robert, Lewis and Edward Carbutt) and her two sisters (Lily Carbutt Mott and Betty Carbutt Howson).
