John Sobczak

John was born in North Philadelphia, PA to the late Theresa Sobczak (nee Marturano) and Joseph F. Sobczak. He attended Roman Catholic High School where he graduated a proud Cahillite! He truly loved his job as Director of U.S. Logistics for ERT based in Philadelphia, where he traveled within the U.S. and Europe.

He married the love of his life, Kathleen, in 1979 at the Ascension of our Lord Church, and they cherished every moment of the 45 years they spent together as husband and wife. John’s genuine pride and joy came from his three daughters; Nicole, Kathleen and Donna. He deeply treasured them, and they will always hold him dearly in their hearts. Although John loved to travel, perhaps his favorite past time was attending family parties, vacationing, and spending time with his 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was fondly referred to as “Poppop” and was always the first to get a piece of cake!

John will be dearly missed by his family who loved and adored him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Theresa and Joseph F. Sobczak, his grandson, David Horcher, and his brother Joseph T. Sobczak (Kathe).

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Sobczak, his daughters; Nicole Moore (Jeff), Kathleen Ragan (Paul) and Donna Horcher (Larry), his sister, Theresa McKeever (Robert), his grandchildren; Paul Ragan (Gina), Larry Horcher, Melissa Hartman (Joe), Patrick Ragan, Nicholas Horcher, Kieran Ragan and Gerard Horcher, and his adoring great grandchildren; Forrest Hartman, Landon Ragan, Hailey Ragan, Scarlet Hartman, Finnian Hartman, Brady Ragan, Vivian Horcher, Harrison Horcher and Lily Hartman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's memorial visitation which will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19116, followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 AM.
