Barbara Mary Rudan

Barbara was born on April 10, 1927, in Coalhurst, Alberta Canada, and passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, at the age of 97. She was surrounded by her four children, George Rudan Jr., David Rudan, Thomas Rudan, and Mary Lowe, who often visited her over the last several months as her health declined.

Barbara led a life full of adventure, travel, love, and faith. Her parents migrated from Hungary to Western Canada, and she was the second-born and first in Canada among eight siblings. She had a deep passion for teaching, a career she pursued for over 35 years in various locations, including Alberta, Canada, Honduras, Costa Rica, and lastly Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

She met her beloved husband, George C. Rudan, while traveling to a teaching position in Central America with the United Fruit Company. They enjoyed 41 happy years of marriage before his passing.

Barbara is survived by her children: George (Angela), David (Marcia), Thomas (Valerie), and Mary (Ralph). She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: David Rudan Jr., Julia Ocasio, Roger Lowe, Jennifer Rudan, Douglas Rudan, Katie Rudan-Smith, and Jane Lowe. Additionally, she was honored to be the great-grandmother of four great-grandsons: David Rudan III, Sebastian Ocasio, Cody Rudan, and Lowe Archer Purkayastha. She is also survived by her sister, Julia Welsh.

Barbara’s legacy of love, dedication, and adventure will be cherished by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attended her funeral services on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 10:00AM - 11:00AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Avenue, Southampton, PA 18966. Followed by the memorial mass at 11:00AM. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
