Janet S Davis

Janet (Smith) Davis of Yarmouth, MA, West Drover, VT and Naples, FL, died on December 23, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born in Boston, MA, on December 31, 1933, the daughter of Florence (Seale) Smith and George H. Smith of Dedham, MA. She was a 1951 graduate of Dedham High School, attended the Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole, MA for one year, and was a graduate of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture (University of MA majoring in Animal Husbandry). She also attended Northeastern University Evening Division as a Sociology major for several semesters.

In 1957 she married William F. Davis of Quechee, VT who survives her. Janet was a published author of a young adult novel and several short stories. She was also a successful artist, working in watercolor and collage. She played golf and tennis, enjoyed walking and gardening, as well as spending time with her family and close friends. She retained her interest in agriculture, appreciated the beauty of the earth and loved being outdoors.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, two sons, Clinton Davis of Yarmouth, MA and Gregory Davis, his wife Nancy Brown and their daughter Kirsten, of New Braintree, MA, also a niece Heather O’Grady and her husband Michael of Canaan, NY and a nephew Kent Mooney of New Lebanon, NY. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Margery Mooney, of Canaan, NY.
