Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend
James M. Daly, Jr of Stuart, Fl, formerly from Dennis, MA and Norwell, MA, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024 at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Allston, MA on 26 March 1942 to the late James and Anna (Connell) Daly, Jim spent most of his childhood growing up in Allston and Brighton, MA. He graduated from St. Sebastian High School and then received a degree from Boston College. Jim served four years in the US Military, stationed for a time in Germany. Following his military service, Jim spent 37 years in various roles at New England Telephone, where he met the love of his life and wife of 48 years, Ursula (Griffin) Daly. They raised their family in Norwell, MA, where Jim also dedicated time serving on the Advisory Board for the Town of Norwell, as well as volunteering for over 25 years within Norwell Youth Athletics. In January 2000, Jim received an honorary recognition plaque from the Massachusetts House of Representatives for his dedicated service to the youth of Norwell and his leadership to the athletes of Old Colony Youth Football, creating a positive framework to develop their core values and sportsmanship.
Jim was a devoted father to his five children, Deborah Daly of Rockland, MA, James M. Daly III and his wife Erica of Hanson, MA, Christopher Daly and his wife Dail of Plymouth, MA, Matthew Daly and his wife Colleen of Norwell, MA, and Adam Daly and his fiancée Darcy of Pembroke, MA. Close Friend and former spouse to Christine Daly, Norwell, MA.

His legacy is one of quiet strength, unwavering support, quick wit, huge heart and a warm smile. He will be remembered as a generous soul who lived his life full of purpose, devotion, friendship, faith and laughter. Jim thoroughly embraced life in recovery, where he was a beacon of strength, constant support and a true friend of 44 years to those on a similar journey though Friend of Bills. His love and dedication to family, especially his Grandchildren was evident to all that witnessed their bond. Jims Memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
Visiting hours will be 8:30-10:30 am on Friday, June 7th at Doane, Beal and Ames funeral home located at 729 Rte. 134 South Dennis, MA 02660. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Cape Parish, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA. Interment will be at a later date.
