Dear George, Linda, Michèle, Gio, and all the family,
 
Francine: her artistry, and her laughter. This rises up in my memories  -- maybe because it fits the time of the year. We (Francine, myself -- who else: Michèle?) are in a room wrapping Christmas presents. I think our parents are somewhere around, so ... the Fairlawn house?  Not much of a visual artist myself, I am totally transfixed at Francine's amazing works of art . Each package uniquely beautiful, done with special thought for the receiver.  Even now l'm still sort of speechless as the images come up. And laughter, quiet, maybe, and happy, silly murmurings. 

The passing of a loved one is unbearably sad.  May you share lots of happy memories together.

So sorry to hear of Fran’s passing.  Our thoughts and prayers are with George and family. I will always remember the good times we had with Fran and George on those memorable Fenwal trips.  Lots of laughs.  


My sincere sympathy to George and Fran’s family at this difficult time.  Thanks to her good friend Helen, I was able to meet and enjoy many years of friendship and get togethers with Fran and George. We would share school stories, laugh at many crazy things, and enjoy wonderful meals together. I will always cherish my last meal with Fran for a double celebration of her clear pet scan and my birthday last September at the Old Yarmouth Inn. We enjoyed lots of laughter, stories and pictures of a wonderful time shared. Fran was a special person and I am ever grateful to have been part of her Cape Cod journey. May she rest in peace and her loved ones be filled with wonderful memories!


I was so sorry to learn of Francine's passing.  I worked with George for many years both before and after they married so I often heard him speak lovingly of Francine.

So sorry to hear this news.
George and I worked together at Fenwal and I was always impressed with how supportive Fran was.
She truly loved him and the feeling was so obviously mutual.

I am forever grateful to have grown up with my FAF and QUG.  "Aunt" and "Uncle" will always be how I feel about you both. Aunt Fran always looked out for others, making sure everyone felt welcome and included. Her laughter was contagious and I left even the most somber of conversations with her smiling. I will always remember Christmases where we decorated the tree up front with the "fun" ornaments while the tree in back was so artistically arranged. Uncle George, it meant so much to me that you both came to my wedding.  She will be missed.

My sincere condolences for the passing of your wife. I knew her when we attended William Paterson College majoring in Art Education....then later when I got to teach in Wayne along with Fran
and other art “specialists “... she was always a positive,energetic person that made our meetings (that were a pain)  somewhat enjoyable... We had one of those gatherings at your house in Wayne
and my husband Tony and I (Olga) also spent our first Christmas with our 2 month old son at your home.. I was saddened that Fran is no longer with us... She is in a peaceful place....Olga Barbara 🕊

My dear friend , Fran, was my hero.  Her soul was filled with kindness, compassion, love, talent, laughter and beauty.  It was a privilege to know  her and an honor to have her as a friend.  She never complained about anything but always turned a negative experience into a positive one.   She was a gift .

Dear George, Our hearts ache for you, as well as Francine's sisters and families, on her passing.  I will never have a truer, kinder, funnier or more loving friend than Fran.  George, your loving relationship with Francine is an inspiration to us all.  You complimented each other perfectly.  You were the love of each other's lives, best friends and soul mates.  Also, the two of you were the consummate hosts.  Who could ever forget your incredible Christmas Eve parties, with special presents for every guest?  And then, there was your Fiftieth/Halloween Party-Wow!  Our trips to St. Thomas and 
Carmel, California were unforgettable.  Fran was always the first person on our party invitation list, because she would charm all of our guests, even the grouchiest ones.  Our home is filled with gifts that Fran and you gave to us.  They are bittersweet reminders of all of our great times together.  I will treasure my box filled with the artistic, hand-made, personalized and hilarious cards that Fran created for special occasions.  Finally, Francine lives on in my heart and fondest memories. My memories of Fran are MANY and bring a smile to me. We taught together in Wayne NJ and those years are filled with laughter and happiness. Her displays of student work from kindergarten... to gifted..to Jr High and special needs .She made them all so proud of their work.    Then she came to Cape Cod after retirement and made a mark on everything she touched...entertaining...birthdays...special celebrations...holidays and garden club projects. She was a MOST SPECIAL friend.   Her generosity was unmatched. I am surrounded in my home with meaningful and treasured gifts she gave to me. 
I love you Fran...you are part of my heart forever.  I thank God you were in my life! Hugs                 

I am so sorry about the passing of my high school friend.  Although we only spoke to each other every few months, she and I have been lifelong friends and will always be in my thoughts and prayers.  Speaking to Fran from a distance always brought a smile to my face reliving so many fun memories.

Sincere condolences to everyone who loved her.  She will be missed.



Beautiful and precious words.  They describe dear Fran to a "T."  Such a happy, brave and positive person.  A perfect match for George. . . both so friendly, gracious, tolerant, cheerful and good fun.  I wish she had played golf, too.  We would have got to know one another even better.  When in the presence of Fran and George you knew and felt just how much they loved and felt about each other.  So many marriages don't work.  George and Fran had a one of those rare marriages that was the epitome of how a devoted marriage should work.   They went together like "a horse and carriage."  So easy to see.  All you had to do was be with them.  A guarantee for smiling and laughter.  Fran Murphy will be missed, but by no one more than George Murphy.  I guess that's the price you have to pay for surviving such a wonderful marriage.  Rest well, Fran, no one deserves it more than you after suffering so much, so long, and so bravely.  You will be missed by so many.   I am so grateful that you were a part of my life and my friends.   We loved you a lot.   

Dear George:
Sorry to hear of Fran's passing.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.  I was very fortunate to be introduced to her by our mutual friend, Gail,  at a time when I was to go through a stem cell transplant.  You and Fran were very supportive of me.  Fran was very kind and patient to explain the stem cell procedure and what I was about to endure.  We were lucky to have the same doctor at Dana Farber.  She came into my life when I needed a guardian angel and that was her.  I will forever be grateful to her for giving me the courage I needed to get through my stem cell transplant.  She had just texted me less than a month ago from the hospital and it was good to communicate with her.   I am happy that I have good memories of spending time shopping and going to lunch with her.  George, we're here if you need anything at all, please let us know.

So many memories of Francine…generous to a fault, a gagster preeminent, gifted artist and educator, master of foreign accents, with a beautiful voice and a love of music.
I remember…Our FDU group and the quest for our master’s degrees… the Christmas Eve galas at the Murphy’s Hillcrest home with culinary feasts prepared by Fran and shopped for by George at the Market Basket…her love of Halloween and the costumes she created…our yearly hiatus to the shore where we all could be together to laugh and lounge…her fortitude and courage in facing the ongoing health issues plaguing her final years.
These memories and so many others may help to fill the huge gap your passing has left in my life. My dear friend, you will be sorely missed. Love always.

Fran Murphy was not only a remarkable and talented art teacher but, she was a beautiful soul and fun to be with. I cannot think of her without smiling. Fran was one of those people who made this world a better place because she was in it. She will be missed but, she will be remember with love and fondness.

Francine was our own very caring FUNNY GIRL. We loved being with her as we vacationed and shared so many happy times.  But she was a fearsome jokester, and “got us” every time with her outrageous pranks and props.  She was a great story teller, too,  and often entertained us with terrible tales of Fran, her sisters & the lisping school girls. P Francine, when my sadness passes, I’ll always have such fond memories of you & will laugh with you often. Love U! Margeski





Dear George…we loved spending time with Fran.  We always had such fun and laughs. She showed us what it means to be brave. I feel lucky to have had her as my friend.  We love you as well.. please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything. 

My beloved sister Fran passed away today.  I already miss her desperately but I’m so grateful to have had her in my life.

 I know there are  other worlds with gardens to tend and paintings to make, so she will be happy and at peace…… I love ❤️ you Fran.
