Alyce Helen (Carosella) Lynch, 89, was born on August 21, 1935 and died December 11 in Brewster, MA. Although dementia stole pieces of her over the past several years, she continued to defy the odds in true “Ally” style. She was sassy, she was a fighter, she was a fierce protector of her family. She entered the gates directing everyone in her path.
Alyce leaves behind her husband, Donald with whom she was married for 67 years; son Kevin and wife Lee of Carlsbad, CA; daughter Lisa and husband Bill Whalen of Brewster MA; and grandchildren Nick, Katherine, Jessica and Dan. Alyce was predeceased by son, Donald Jr.
Alyce was born and raised in Waterbury, CT. She became a registered nurse, spending 20 years in practice. She returned to school, completing a masters and subsequently developed and taught a nurse’s aid curriculum at Oliver Wolcott Technical school, retiring in 1995. Alyce taught the value of hard work and a good education. Her family was her pride and joy. She established family traditions that are continued by her children and grandchildren.
Alyce’s love of the ocean and sun led to retirement in Cape Cod where she enjoyed time with family and friends, playing bridge and gardening.
The Lynch family would like to thank the staff of Maplewood Brewster and Broadreach Hospice for the exceptional care given to their mom.
Please consider a donation in Alyce's memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute - dana-farber.org
A memorial service is being planned in mid-2025.
