Walter Francis Williamson, Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, in New Bedford, Massachusetts (MA) following a series of health complications. He was born on June 20, 1947, in Weymouth, MA to Madeline (Pantano) Williamson and Walter Francis Williamson, Sr.
Wally, as he was known to family and friends, grew up in Braintree, MA. He enjoyed sports and specifically loved playing baseball for Braintree keeping his treasured left-handed first baseman’s mitt in the trunk of his car until his passing. Wally graduated from Bentley College in 1970 with a degree in accounting. He and his wife Maribel were married for 54 years, and they raised their two boys in Dartmouth, MA.
Wally worked at Milhench Supply Company serving the company’s founder on the board of directors and in financial oversight roles until his retirement in 2019.
Walter Williamson is survived by his wife Mary (Nickerson) Williamson; his sons Jeffrey and his fiancé Glynda Rees and Jonathan and his partner Heather Young; three grandchildren Isobel, Colin, and Amelia; his sister Cheryl Joy; and many beloved family members and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 25, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM with a service immediately following in the Waring Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, MA 02748. Relatives and friends are invited.
