Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Harry and Helen (Cordeira) Wareing, he was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Wareing served in the United States Navy where he received a Purple Heart. He later worked for the City of New Bedford in the Department of Public Works and Animal Control. Steve was a funny man and in his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, camping, smoking a good cigar. He had many dogs over the years, all of which were German Shepherds and loved them dearly. He loved his Cadillacs and sports cars, enjoyed watching the Patriots football games, and being with his family; especially his granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steven Wareing and his wife Heidi of Douglas; his beloved granddaughter, Lauren; cousins, Cheryl Born and her husband Bill of Rochester and Donny Cordeira and his wife Suzanne of Fairhaven.
His visitation will be Saturday, July 17, 2021 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Rural Cemetery, Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. For online tribute/directions: www.waring-sullivan.com.
