Maria Delores Mello

Maria Delores (Cabral) Mello, age 71, of Dartmouth died unexpectedly on Friday, November 6, 2015. She was the wife of Antone J. “Tony” Mello with whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage on April 20th.

She was born in St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel and Hilda (Camara) Cabral. She immigrated to the US at the age of 5 and lived in Dartmouth for most of her life.

Delores worked for 40 years as an Assistant Manager at the Hallmark Store in the North Dartmouth Mall. She attended St. Julie’s Church, enjoyed going to casinos, and playing cards, dominos and Yahtzee, but time with family was what she treasured most.

In addition to her husband, she leaves 3 sons, Antone R. “Tony” Mello and his wife Cynthia of Dillwyn, VA, Kevin J. Mello and his wife Anna of Dartmouth, and Mark D. Mello and his wife Audra of Wareham; 12 grandchildren, Sarah, Stephanie, Savannah, Kyle, Jared, Noah, Blake, Jarod, Jessica, Brandon, Jillian and Ryan, 3 great-grandchildren, Piper Ann, Antone “Tony” and Cameryn; a sister, Constance Machado of Fairhaven; 6 brothers Gilbert of FL, George of Dartmouth, David of New Bedford, Raymond of Dartmouth, Steven of Norton and Richard of Wareham; her uncle Ralph Camara of Dartmouth and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Henrique and Maria Cabral.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 from 4 to 6 pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
