Kathleen Reid

Kathleen (Walsh) Reid, 72, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Reid, with whom she shared 39 years of marriage.

Born in Bayonne, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Margaret “Peggy” (Casey) Walsh.

Kathy was a graduate of Bayonne High School and began her career in banking at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City before starting her family. While raising her three young sons she moved her career closer to home and found her second family at Pamrapo Savings Bank in Bayonne, New Jersey where she made many lifelong friends. Her husband Robert’s career brought the family to Dartmouth, MA in the mid-1990’s where Kathy’s warm spirit and outgoing personality helped her settle into her second hometown. Kathy went on to make the same lifelong friendships while working at Compass Bank and Fall River Credit Union which she treasured dearly.

Swapping stories from the good times at the “Bungalow” on Budd Lake, late nights with the Meehan’s on 12th Street, celebrations at Rocco’s, family trips driving to the Sand and Surf in Florida, sailing on Country Lakes, the Sponge Docks, the Casey’s on Christmas Eve in Jersey City and especially the car trips down the Turnpike to visit her brother and his family “in the country” as she would say were all memories that all brought joy to her life.

Always putting others before herself, Kathy was the best mom anyone could have ever asked for. Family always came first. She was always the first one on the dance floor at family weddings and parties, especially when she heard the song "Shout” by the Isley Brothers. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for her family, listening to the Beatles and Cousin Brucie on the radio, and gossiping with her best friend Peggy and her favorite Aunt, Eileen.

A voracious reader, Kathy loved nothing more than a good book, a hot cup of tea and her favorite robe and slippers. An adoring grandmother, she loved doting on her 7 grandchildren and passing along her warm and loving spirit to her next generation. Kathleen touched many hearts in her time with us all, and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving sons, Kevin R. Reid and his wife Dana of Sea Girt, NJ, Christopher M. Reid and his wife Bethany of Dartmouth, MA and Colin P. Reid and his wife Lauren of Billerica, MA; a brother, Edward J. Walsh of Trinity, FL, and her seven grandchildren, Molly, Abigail, Patrick, Emily, Bradley, Noah, and Sophie.

Her visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00PM, in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748. A funeral mass will be held in Kathleen’s honor at St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt, NJ on Saturday, February 10th at 12:30pm with a repass to follow that is open to all family and friends.
