Elizabeth Ann (Miller) Howe, 77, of South Dartmouth, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Herbert D. Howe with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Harry and Olive (Crumbley) Miller, she was a lifelong resident of South Dartmouth and wintered in Southern California after retirement.
She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from New England College in Henniker, NH and a Master’s degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University.
Mrs. Howe was a highly respected teacher who taught in the Dartmouth School system for 35 years. Demelo Elementary School for her first 2 years & Potter Elementary School for 33 years.
Beth had a passion for sailing, taught sailing lessons at the New Bedford Yacht Club and was a proud Mariner Girl Scout. Beth loved life, having fun and making sure everyone was joyful. She was a true firecracker throughout her entire life. When Beth retired, she became a member of the Red Hatters Club out West and a registered clown to bring joy to children hospitals.
She loved tackling new crafts: chair caning, needlepoint, ceramics & basket weaving, to name a few. She loved spending time with her family, traveling the country & sitting at Anthony’s Beach. Her beloved dog, Guppy, was always by her side to the very last moment.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Travis D. Howe of Brookline, VT and KC (Keven) H. O’Leary and husband Kevin of Evergreen, CO; her grandchildren, Connor and Elizabeth; and her nieces and nephew, Jay, Wendy, Robin and Crystal. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry R. Miller.

Celebration of Life at Congregational Church of South Dartmouth on 17 Middle Street, South Dartmouth, MA at 11AM on Friday, September 27, 2024.
