Born in Lawrence, MA on October 22, 1931, the son of the late Earl W. and Lillian (Elander) Simon, he attended Methuen and No. Andover Public Schools. He was a graduate of the University of Lowell and earned his Master’s Degree from Salem State College in Elementary School Administration.
Mr. Simon served as a Principal in Andover Public Schools and later in Dartmouth until his retirement.
While in Andover, he served as a member of the town Recreation Committee and President of the Andover male Choir.
He was a United States Navy Veteran, who served as a Hospital Corpsman with the 2nd and 3rd Marine Divisions during the Korean War. Earl enjoyed all sports and was especially fond of playing horseshoes at which he was well accomplished.
His family of which he was extremely proud of consists of his wife of 60 years Joyce (Mowat) Simon; three sons; Eric Simon and his wife Susan of Fairhaven, Kurt Simon and his wife Jen of Dighton and Christopher Simon and his wife Antoinette of Dartmouth; one daughter Beth Macedo of Fairhaven; eight grandchildren Eric, Taylor, Hailey, Ross, Heather, Evan, Ben and Blakely; six great grandchildren and a sister Linda Monahan and her husband Jim of Bedford, NH.
