Cynthia E. Lavoie

Cynthia E. Lavoie, 68, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Armand G. Lavoie with whom she would have shared 44 years of marriage in October.

Born in Presque Isle, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Helena (Galazka) Mierzejewski. As a child she lived in CA, Germany, KY, VA, NJ and MA and spent the last 42 years in Westport.

She was a graduate of Limestone High School in Maine, class of 1966.

Mrs. Lavoie had worked in the Westport community school system for 22 years.

Cynthia was a member of the New Bedford Choral Society for 23 years. An avid reader, she loved to sing and dance and ride motorcycles all along the east coast. Cynthia was so very happy to meet her new granddaughter.

Cynthia’s family would like to thank Dr. Cara Matthews and all the caregivers for their tender care and compassion.

Surviving in addition to her husband is her daughter, Christina E. Stanek and husband William of Lincolnville, ME; her son, Michael A. Lavoie and wife Julia of New Bedford; her granddaughter, Emily Helena Stanek of Lincolnville, ME; her sister, Pamela Fitton and husband Donald of Raynham; her niece, Susan Fitton of Newton; her nephew, Chad Fitton of CT; and several cousins.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 9 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. George Church, 12 Highland Ave., Westport. Visiting hours Sunday 5-8 PM. Burial in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Bedford Choral Society, 29 Pleasant St., Assonet, MA 02702 or Southcoast Visiting Nurse Association, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
