Curtiss D. “Curt” Hodgkins, 75, of Dartmouth passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Kathryn (Moniz) Hodgkins with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Bangor, ME son of the late Henry and Geraldine (Viera) Hodgkins he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Curt served in the United States Navy and later worked at Aerovox as Distribution Traffic Manager and later at New England Ropes. Following his formal retirement, he decided to work part-time at BJ’s Wholesale Club for the social aspect and to stay active. He was an incredibly thoughtful and generous man who loved life and enjoyed sharing those moments as teaching opportunities for his children and grandchildren.
Curt loved to cook for his grandchildren after school and will always be remembered for his homemade chicken soup that had incredible healing effects on those lucky enough to enjoy it. His greatest joy was being with his family. Curt could always be found cheering on his grandchildren at the ball fields, socializing with neighbors from his front porch, and shopping for his next culinary adventure. He was well known for his sense of humor and being an unpredictable joker. His theatrical antics entertained many. If you knew Curt, you knew you were loved. His caring and thoughtfulness for others extended far beyond his family.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his children, Kirsten Hodgkins and her husband Matthew Woodbury of Dartmouth, Karyn Machado and her husband Joseph of Dartmouth, and Corey Hodgkins and his wife Angela Savoie of Dartmouth; his grandchildren Emma Marie Machado, Caleb Andrew Hodgkins, Tyler Deane Machado, Meaghan Woodbury, Cameron Woodbury, and Brody Savoie; and brothers-in-law Richard Moniz of Florida and Burt Moniz of North Carolina, and his brother, Henry A. Hodgkins of Texas.
His memorial visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2024, 4-7 p.m. in Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, MA 02748. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Humane Society & Shelter, 31 Ventura Drive, Dartmouth, MA 02747 or www.hsssc.org.
