Angelica C.P. Dupre’, age 92, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at home with her loved ones by her bedside. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund Dupre’ with whom she shared 24 years of marriage. Edmund, who she always referred to as “My Edmund” proposed to Angelica only 3 days after meeting her. Even through an initial language barrier she said “Yes” and lived a happy and fulfilled marriage.
She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Ermezinda (Conceicao) Paiva born in the city of Porto, Portugal.
Angelica came to America in 1960, and eventually became the owner and operator of her own restaurant “ANGELICA’S HOUSE” in South Dartmouth. Besides gardening and cross-stitching, she had a passion for cooking and hosting elaborate dinners for all of those she loved. She so enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors who delighted in hearing her many stories and who were occasionally thrown off guard by her responses and sassy personality.
She is survived by her “adopted” family, Nery and Danny Amaro, Lou and Brenda Shepherd, Margie and Manny Acevedo, Izzy Conway and many others. She will be deeply missed by them all.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11:00am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02747. Everyone is to go directly to the church. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, RT. 6, New Bedford. Arrangements are in the care of WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748.
