Joan M. Piette

Joan M. (Charland) Piette, age 67, of Somerset, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. She was the wife of the late J. Byron Piette to whom she had been married for 35 years before his passing two years ago.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Bennett) Charland, she spent her youth in Somerset and graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Academy School in Fall River. Joan was part of the first graduating class of Bristol Community College in Fall River.

Mrs. Piette was employed by Quality Beverage in Taunton before retiring in 2014. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Church Folk Group, and with her big heart she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her favorite place to visit was Disney World because it made her feel like a kid again.

She is survived by a daughter: Aimee M. Piette of Somerset, a brother: Robert Charland, Jr. and his wife Louise (LouAnne) and their daughter Rachel of Little Compton, RI, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 8:30AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Visiting hours prior to her Mass from 8:30 to 9:30AM in the Funeral Home. Contributions in her honor may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
