In memory of Sheila Kathleen Griffin born September 23, 1940 Manitoba, Canada and passed away January 23, 2012. She was the daughter of Kathleen Gallagher Vangel and Albert Vangel, wife of Bud Griffin and mother of Shane, Bryan, Shawna, Becky and Mark. She was grandmother to Ethan, Maya, Sora and Max.
Sheila spent her first five years being raised by her mother while her father was at war. They came to the United States when she was young, and made their home in Seattle, WA. Raised by her strong and loving Irish mother, in a city filled with promise, she began a lifetime love affair with the arts.
At the age of 20 she set off with an independent, confident mind to New York City, NY. Her abilities and education in beauty and art created an opportunity to work on Broadway, in the world famous production of My Fair Lady. She lived and worked as a hair designer for this show, then traveled the country becoming an integral part of the production.
Her roots in Seattle called her home after this and she married and began raising a family in Snohomish, WA.
The love of art and photography continued to play a major role in her life, her work with oils and landscape painting generated enthusiasts far beyond those around her, and a personal art show in a local gallery as well as personal sales of her work are renowned by those familiar. This influence also carried over to incredible photography, and a love for animals.
Her children and family carry lifelong memories of her teaching of gentle, unconditional love for all things vulnerable and without a voice.
Her final years although painful were made easier by the faithful and strong love of her husband, Bud, who cared for her day in and day out through many difficult days.
Her final moments were swift and filled with those who loved her, she will be missed by many not just for her influential ways, but for the deep love she had for those close, and far away.
Arrangements under the direction of Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish, WA.
