Dec. 23, 2013, at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Wash., surrounded by her
loving family. She was born May 20, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA., daughter of
Albert and Elsie Catherine Drager. She is survived by her children Hope
Covey, Holly Covey, Jon C. and Tami Covey, and Todd Covey; grandchildren
Rebecca Garcia, Tiffanie Kepler, and Victoria Covey; great grandchildren
Cassandra, Melissa and Anthony Garcia; step grandchild, Marissa Omaits; her
children Dallas Smith and Ariana Vinup; and in-laws Candace and Robert
Weir. Her beloved husband James died in 2010. At the time of her death,
Elsie was a member of the American Angus Assn. and the Western States Angus
Assn., serving the latter for decades in many leadership capacities and was
Auxiliary treasurer at the time of her death. She was the first woman
president of the Snohomish County Cattleman’s Association, and for over 40
years managed her nationally-known Alderhurst Farm registered Angus cattle
herd with her late husband, Jim, at their farm in Snohomish. Elsie loved
and supported the Evergreen State Fair and Washington State Fair, among
many others, for over 40 years by exhibiting her national championship
Angus cattle. She was among the first in Washington to utilize embryo
transplant technology in her herd, and was an expert on breeding. She was
social and involved her entire life with helping people, supporting her
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Services will be held at
Bauer Funeral Chapel, 701 First St., Snohomish, WA. on Tuesday, Dec. 31,
with viewing at 9:00 a.m. and memorial service at11:00 a.m. with interment
following service at G.A.R. Memorial Cemetery in Snohomish, WA.
