She is preceded in death by her beloved husband B.J. Smith, her friend and companion Bob Lytle, and her sister Patsy Garland.
She loved her family and especially doted on her great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughters Deborah Franklin (Daniel) and Donna Stephens (Robert), grandchildren Stephanie Hedrick (Josh Hodges), Joshua Franklin (Maria) and Megan Whitley (Jesse), great grandchildren Garrett Hedrick, Beckett Franklin, Reese and Asher Whitley and her fur baby Lucy.
She was a feisty, fun loving, stubborn, hard working woman with lifelong friends and she loved to travel (especially to the beach), read, cook, play games, and dance.
She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for over 35 years, had been an active member in the Atlanta Chapter of National Association of Women in Construction, was very active in her church, Grayson United Methodist, baking countless cakes for the bake sale, volunteering during Bible School, helping with yard sales and many other church activities. Many years you could find her on election day from sunup to sundown volunteering at the polls. She participated in Relay for Life as a cancer survivor and volunteered at Eastside Hospitals H2U program.
These last months she was blessed with caregivers she loved and who loved her and spoiled her and treated her like their own grandmother. The family is beyond grateful for Merri Mullinax, Joan Garner, Rhonda Link and Mona Bailey. They all earned feathers in their angel wings.
In lieu of flowers, donations to " Extra Special People" would make her heart happy.
