Jessie Mae McFadden

Jessie, described by her family as “beautiful, witty, stubborn, strong, and selfless” passed away Monday, June 9, 2014. Known for recognizing any event by sending a card or making a phone call- be it a birthday or anniversary, Christmas or Valentine’s Day- her yearly planner was full of occasions she didn’t want to forget. Affectionately referred to as “Grandmommie” by her grandchildren and their friends, she spoiled everyone she could, usually by repeatedly cooking their favorite foods (fried chicken wings, chicken & dumplings, oatmeal fudge). Location didn’t hinder this, as it was not uncommon for a surprise batch of homemade cookies or brown-paper bag apple pies to be overnighted to a granddaughter in New York, “just because.”

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Abbie Horne; sisters Pauline Mann and Louise Burson, and brother Alvin P Horne, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gene D McFadden, sons and daughters-in-law Gene D McFadden, Jr. and wife Jeri of Snellville and Keith W McFadden and wife Cynthia of Dacula, grandchildren Gene D McFadden III (Trey)and wife Kimberly of Marietta, Tiffany H McFadden of St Petersburg, FL, Jessica L McFadden Foster and husband Hamilton of Charleston, SC, and Kristina J McFadden of Brooklyn, NY, great grandsons Cody McFadden based in South Korea, and Nicholas McFadden of Brandywine, MD and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jessie’s family will receive visitors on Friday, June 13, 2014, from 5 -8 PM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home and Memory Gardens in Snellville with the funeral service on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 2 PM in the Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel.
