Cherian Variklayil Kuriakose, a beacon of compassion and wisdom, departed this world on May 8, 2024. He went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Born on March 13, 1952 in Kannara, India, Cherian was a remarkable individual whose life was characterized by profound kindness, unwavering faith, and tireless dedication to serving his family. In 1980 Cherian immigrated to the United States to build a new life for his wife, future kids and grandbabies.
Cherian was a cherished husband to his wife of 40 years, Mercy, a devoted father to Chesin and Chesey, and a beloved Appachen to his grandkids Lulu, Johnny, Ruthie and three grandbabies in heaven who went before him. He touched countless lives with his gentle spirit and genuine smile.
A man of deep faith, Cherian's life was guided by his strong belief in God and his commitment to living a life of integrity and compassion. He was deeply committed to his faith in the Orthodox church and through the loving-kindness of Pastors Dethose and John Cherian, and the prayers of his wife, he received the Lord as his Savior and professed his faith through water baptism on January 14, 2006 at Atlanta Christian Assembly. He was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration to all who knew him, demonstrating unwavering resilience in the face of life's challenges, including an 11 year battle with cancer.
Cherian's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was employed for over 35 years at Applied Ceramics from where he retired in 2018 to take care of his first granddaughter, Lulu. His profound love for his grandkids will continue to be felt for generations to come. Though he may no longer be with us in body, the story of his life will forever remain as a guiding light for his wife, kids and grandkids, reminding us to live humbly and love our families deeply. Cherian is survived by his wife Mercy, his children Chesin, Rosey, Chesey and Wesley and his grandkids Lucille Mercy Kuriakose, John Cherian Kuriakose, and Ruth Rose Kuriakose. He is also survived by his siblings Mathew, Leela, and Sarah.
Appachen, Chettan, Dad, will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace, may his memory be eternal.
