Cecile was born on June 5, 1937 to Alfred and Janet Claeys in Akron, IA. After graduating from High School in 1955, Cecile went on to Nursing School, graduating as a Registered Nurse from St. Elisabeth's School of Nursing, Lafayette Indiana, in 1958. (please feel free to fill in the blanks) After graduation, she started her first Nursing job and worked in a several areas of nursing. Including Geriatrics, Operating Room and Psychiatric Nursing. Cecile continued working in the Nursing field while raising her family with Lyle, finishing her Career at DeKalb General Hospital in Decatur, Georgia.
In 1962, she married the love of her life, Lyle K. Nelson, going on to have five children, Ann, Stephen, Mary, Patricia and Matthew. Cecile dedicated her life to the wellbeing of her family. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother. She was the foundation of our family, and 2nd Mother to many other children around the neighborhood. Cecile's kindness was known by many, often lending a caring ear and had a knack for knowing the right thing to say. Cecile loved trips with friends and family to her beloved North Georgia Mountains and always was on the hunt for the best picnic spots and sightseeing locations. You could also find Cecile in her happy place soaking up the rays on a Florida or Texas beach.
Whether it was supporting her children by running them around town chasing extra curricular activities, or attending the many sporting and school events of her Grandchildren, she was our families constant cheerleader and best supporter.
Cecile was a passionate and caring person living the example of Christ, often finding a way to find time for others outside of her family that needed support and encouragement. For those of us that were fortunate enough to join one of her Christmas cookie parties…legendary.
Cecile was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Janet, and her brother Robert. She is survived by her Husband of 60 years Lyle Nelson, children and their respective spouses Ann and Darrell David, Stephen and Miriam Nelson, Mary and Darryl Bowling, Patricia and Perry Worsham and Matthew as well as her siblings John Claeys, Mary Anne Moore, and Paul Claeys along with 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
