Paul R. Savage

He was born September 19, 1938 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Frank Savage and Damie (Meader) Savage.

He graduated from Solon High School in the class of 1957. Paul entered and served in the Army National Guard in Skowhegan for six years.

On November 11, 1961, he married the former Fran Morin in Bingham, Maine.

He worked for JJ Nissen Baking Company starting out in delivery, then became a supervisor for many years. After retiring from JJ Nissens, he started working for Somerset County Courthouse doing maintenance for 18 years.

He is a member of the Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge in Skowhegan, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree Knight, a member of the local sports boosters, and he was a lector in the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church for many years. Paul loved baseball, basketball, football, or any sport his sons participated in and he also enjoyed hunting. He loved to attend his children and grandchildren’s events. He loved eating at Whit’s End and he also enjoyed keeping a beautifully manicured lawn.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Fran of Skowhegan; his three children, Rick Savage and his wife Denise of Newport, Stephen Savage and his wife Carol of Yarmouth, Mike Savage and his wife Bobbi of Norridgewock; 9 grandchildren, Brett, Tyler, Sayre, Sydnie, Amanda, Jessica, Riley, Lauren, and Drew; three great-grandchildren, Owen, Markus, and Jayden; one aunt, Arlene Meader of Oakland, several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and father.

Viewing hours will be held on Wednesday December 9, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday December 10, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St., Skowhegan, Maine, burial to follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan, Maine.
