He was born August 15, 1964 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Guy S. Parlin and Madeline (Pierpont) Gilcott.
He graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in the class of 1982.
For 27 years, Rick served our country in the Army National Guard serving tours in Bosnia and Iraq.
For a time Rick worked for New Balance and SAPPI and for the last 16 years Rick worked for the State of Maine out of Camp Keyes for the Department of Facilities and Engineering.
On August 27, 1988, he married Gidget Caswell and together they had two daughters Erika and Katelin, then on February 1, 1997 he married Crystal Saucier and her children Kirsten and Skyler joining their families together in Skowhegan, Maine.
Rick loved to be outdoors; hunting, fishing, and camping. He never missed an opportunity to play his guitar and sing. Rick had a great sense of humor and loved to have a good time. He loved his family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife Crystal of 17 years of Skowhegan, his children; Kirsten Libby; Erika Hamar and husband Joseph; Katelin Parlin and fiancé Justin Moore; Skyler Veilleux, grandchild; Jacob Sy, his siblings; Nancy Strickland, Joan Oliver, Brenda Rines, Linda Lancaster, Janice Steward, Theresa Franzose, Sandra Blouin, Michael Parlin, Robin Parlin, Wayne Parlin, John Parlin, Danny Gilcott, Ronald Gilcott, many nieces and nephews and his lifelong friends; Dale and Earlene Thompson and Shane and Sonya Willliamson.
He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings; Carolyn Weisbacker, Alan Gilcott, Randy Gilcott, and Stanley Parlin.
Viewing hours will be held on Thursday October 23, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday October 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the US Army National Guard Armory, 11 N School St., Skowhegan,Maine.
