Waterville—Alice M. Ricker, 92, of Waterville, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Cedar Ridge Nursing Care Center in Skowhegan.
Alice was born on Oct. 24, 1919 in Canaan, Maine, the daughter of Horace O. Bean and Mabelle V. Bean.
Alice was educated in the Canaan schools and she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Skowhegan High School. Following high school Alice worked for a Medical Doctor until marrying William Ricker on Dec. 7, 1938. He passed away on July 5, 1993.
Alice along with her husband Bill lead very active lives farming, lumbering, baking bean hole beans and finally B & A Custom Smoking. Alice also worked in the office at Norrwock Shoe Co. in Norridgewock for several years.
Upon her retirement along with her husband they traveled to 49 states and all the Provinces of Canada. She wintered for many years in Edinburg, Tx and she did volunteer work at the Rio Grande Bible Institute. While wintering in Sebring, Florida she did volunteer work at Maranatha. Her summers were spend and devoted to managing the book store at the Living Waters Christian Camp in Danforth, Maine. In 1994 she married Warren Hodsdon, they also had spend several winters in Texas and Florida.
Alice was a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother. Her hobbies were doing crafts, crossword puzzles, picking berries, bird watching, she was an avid reader and enjoyed her vegetable garden especially keeping it weed free.
She is survived by her husband Warren Hodsdon: Two children; Marjorie Tibbetts and her husband Norman of Waterville, Clyde Ricker and his wife, Sally of Standish: Two grandchildren; Diane Hubert of Waterville and Brian Ricker of Washington: Two great grandchildren; Kevin Hubert of Waterville and Danielle Jenkins of Virginia: One great great grandson, Jordan Hubert of Clinton, along with several Nieces and Nephews: Son-in-laws; Dick Hodsdon of Calais, Ross Hodsdon of Fairfield and Chuck Hodsdon of Bangor, a daughter-in-law, Aleta Budd of MA and all of their children, grand children, Nieces and Nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 1:00 pm until the time of her funeral service at 2:00 pm at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine with Pastor Kevin Grant and Pastor Roger Black officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenlawn Rest Cemetery in Clinton.
