Mr. Robert Bob M. Barash

Mr. Robert “Bob” M. Barash, age 91, of Potomac, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Bob was born in Weehawken, New Jersey. He is predeceased by his late wife Donna “Suzanna” (Lewis) Barash and sister Ruth Roufberg. He is survived by his sons Mark (Yvonne) Barash and Steve (Yi-Chi) Barash, and his granddaughters Laura Alter, Eileen Barash-Hocking, and June Barash, and several nieces and nephews.

Bob had a distinguished career working as a civilian for the US Navy from 1958-1996 as a Research Physicist at the Naval Surface Weapons Center (formerly Naval Ordnance Laboratory), focused on underwater explosions damage. Most recently he was very active at the Ingleside of King Farm retirement community, publishing the weekly newsletter for the many residents and adding to the community engagement. Bob loved music, played flute, and was music director for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring for many years. Bob was always a dedicated husband to Suzanna from their wedding date in 1955 through her death in 1997, and a loving father and grandfather, and will be missed. We celebrate Bob and his life lived well.

A private family graveside service and burial for Bob will be held Friday, December 9, 2022, at 12:00 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20906.
