Michael Hatgicosti

Born and raised in London, England, Michael found joy in fishing, summer beach vacations, and caring for his yard, where he spent countless hours mowing the lawn and planting flowers. A lifelong Chelsea supporter, he cherished watching soccer matches and enjoyed the excitement of horse racing. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with his family.

In his youth, Michael showcased his musical talent by playing drums in a band with friends, often practicing in the back of his father's barbershop. Following his father's footsteps, he became a barber, building lasting relationships with his customers in Washington, D.C., where he made everyone feel welcome. His passion for the craft inspired his son, Achilleas, who continues the family legacy.

In 1967, Michael and his family immigrated to the United States to be near relatives. While vacationing in Cyprus in 1978, he met Andrea. Within two weeks, they were married and embarked on a life filled with love and adventure. They soon welcomed their daughter Miranda and later their son Achilleas.

Michael was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren—Adriana, Melina, Michaela, and Rocco IV—were his pride and joy. Known for his kind heart and gentle spirit, he had a quiet demeanor, quick wit, and a contagious laugh that could light up any room.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Andrea; his daughter, Miranda (Rocco III); his son, Achilleas (Lena); his adored grandchildren; and his sisters, Kay and Xenia. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, Andriana and Achilleas. Michael leaves behind many friends and family who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 12 PM at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 721 Norwood Road, Silver Spring, MD, followed by interment at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
