Louis Altobelli died on January 8, 2024, after a brief illness and COPD. Louis (Lou) was born Luigi Altobelli on April 7, 1936, in Dudley, Pennsylvania to parents, Carine and Luigi Altobelli . Lou was married to Elizabeth (Betty) Altobelli who died on January 9, 2007. They were married for 47 years before Betty’s death from cancer. Lou and Betty raised a family in Maryland, first in College Park, Maryland and then in Brookeville, Maryland. Lou was a builder and a wise man about people. He built and sustained relationships his whole life. After he retired from construction and real estate, he spent his time building a thriving roadside fruit and vegetable stand on Route 108 in Ashton, Maryland. After that, he sold honey. Lou’s honey was sold in Maryland and in Virginia. He loved talking to people, meeting people and giving them advice, always.
Lou and Betty had four children. His two sons took care of him and made sure he was cared for and loved. He is survived by son, Joe Altobelli (Selene Almazan); grandchildren Joseph Altobelli (Lauren); Analise Altobelli (Tim Marcin) and David Altobelli; his son, Louis Altobelli III (Eleni); grandchildren Heather Brookmeyer (Chris); Alex Denman; Louis Altobelli IV. Great grandchildren Joseph Van Altobelli; Sloane and Cameron Brookmeyer. Survived by additional loving family, including nieces, nephews and cousins.
