Brenda Eichelberger-Holloway

Of Silver Spring, MD departed this life peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 4, 2017. Brenda was the beloved wife of Calvin Holloway, and is also survived by siblings, Squire Daniels (Karren), Sandra Daniels Gibson, and Barry (Rick) Daniels; two nieces Tanya Daniels Johnson (Craig) and Stephanie Monique Daniels; grandnephew, Michael Daniels; grandniece, Aisia Daniels; and a host of other relatives, friends, and colleagues. Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Squire and Beatrice Daniels.

Brenda was born and raised in Washington, D.C. where she graduated from McKinley High School and the District of Columbia Teachers College. With three advanced degrees in English, guidance and counseling, and educational administration, she devoted her distinguished career, spanning over 50 years, to the quality education of children. Her many contributions on behalf of students in the Chicago Public School System were invaluable. In 1975, she founded the National Alliance of Black Feminists, an organization dedicated to achieving full equality for African American Women in America. She also served as president of the organization's Chicago Chapter. The Chicago Public Library's Vivian G. Harsh Collection of Afro-American History and Literature holds the Brenda Eichelberger/National Alliance of Black Feminists Papers.

In celebration of Brenda's life, a Homegoing Service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, in Silver Spring, MD. Family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until the time of service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Silver Spring, MD.
