She was born on October 3, 1938, in St. Marie Township, Jasper County, IL to the late Peter Anthony and Goldie Lillian Marie Wilkerson Rennier.
On October 5, 1963, in Champaign, IL she married Edward Carl Mattingly who preceded her in death on June 2, 1974.
She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Champaign, IL until moving to Missouri in 2021. She was currently a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Sikeston, MO.
She was a 1957 graduate of Morehouse High School. While attending high school she was active in theater, volleyball, and softball. She attended Parkland College in Champaign, IL where she took computer application courses and played volleyball and softball. She had a life-long career with the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana as a data entry operator. She ran marathons for many years and participated in exercise and swimming at the Champaign YMCA. She loved dogs, enjoyed gardening and organizing her home, and experimented with cooking different recipes using her family as guinea pigs. She belonged to a bridge club and volunteered as an election poll judge.
She is survived by two sisters-in-laws, Elaine Rennier of Weldon Springs, MO and Suzanne Rennier of Sikeston, MO; seven nieces and five nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will take place at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, with the funeral mass following at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston, MO with Father Colby Elbert, officiating.
A private burial will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at St. Marys Cemetery in Champaign, IL.
Pallbearer will be Steve Rennier, Greg Rennier, Robert Rennier, Justin Brown, Rodney Patt and James Hann.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to St Francis Xavier Church Sikeston, MO; St. Mary’s Church Cape Girardeau, MO; Providence Hospice Cape Girardeau, MO or Lutheran Home Cape Girardeau, MO.
