Leatha Evelyn Jones

She was born on January 10, 1934, in Canalou, MO to the late Abraham and Mary Elizabeth Scott Landers.

On June 24, 1956, in Canalou, MO at the First Baptist Church she married Jerry Rodney Jones who preceded her in death on June 10, 2004.

Leatha graduated high school in 1953 from Canalou High School in Canalou, MO. She has served as an alumni officer on and off several times over the years. She has held office of Secretary, Treasurer, and the last most recent office was Vice President of the Canalou Alumni Association. She served many times over the years in PTA for children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also been very active and involved with church, school, and extracurricular activities for her children and grandchildren through the years.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Rodney Jones II of Marcellus, MI; one daughter, Melisa Renee Bishop of Sikeston, MO; four grandchildren, Chasity Arensen, Nakeesha Williams, Corie (Amy Sailors) Jones and Jerry Rodney Jones III and fourteen great grandchildren, Steven Michael Farley II, Brooke Farley, Reese Arensen, Chad Arensen, Corey Arensen. Jadyn Hope Jones, Wade Jones, Paiton Jones, Kencin Ramsey, Justice Ramsey, Dustin Ramsey II, Nicholas Ramsey, Andrew Ramsey, and Elizabeth Ramsey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with Great, Great-great, and Great-great-great nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Willie Landers, Leslie Landers, Raymond Landers, Robert Landers, Roy Landers, Herman Landers and Abe Junior Landers; eight sisters, Vernice Lumsden, Ethel Arbuckle, Alfredia Thrower, Mary Helen Lowery, Roberta Nipper, Wynette Landers, Inez Landers and Ruby Landers, one grandson son, Dustin Ramsey and one daughter Cynthia Ramsey.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO with Bro. Dewayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church in Canalou, MO, officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Rodney Jones ll, Jerry Rodney Jones lII, Justice Ramsey, Dustin Ramsey II, Nicholas Ramsey and Wade Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Michael Farley II and Robert Arensen.

Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery in Dogwood, MO.
