On September 12, 1943 in Charleston, MO, he was born to the late Raymond O. and Juanita V. Baker Brown.
Larry attended Charleston High School.
On February 11, 1962 he married Jacqueline Ann Rayburn. Together she and Larry had three children: Regina Diane, Larry Gene Jr., and Raymond Gene Brown.
Larry worked and lived in Southeast Missouri all of his life. The exception being for the five years that he lived in St. Charles, MO while working for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and as a mechanic. After moving back to Sikeston, Larry owned and operated the Itty Bitty Truck Stop in Charleston, along with other truck stops and gas stations in Sikeston and Kewanee.
During his career Larry was an over the road truck driver, mechanic and also did construction.
Larry also served his country by serving in the Army National Guard.
He spent his retirement years in Morley, MO, where he continued to work in construction and doing mechanical work. He also enjoyed many hobby projects and maintaining the rural properties that he and his son, Raymond, shared. He was a true dog lover, and his two best friends in life were a testament to that Skeeter and Romeo.
He is survived by one daughter, Regina (Kendal) Brown Hicks of Fort Myers, FL; one son, Raymond (Cindy) Brown of Morley, MO; one brother, Gary Brown of IL; one sister, Renita Sanders of Dexter, MO; five grandchildren: Krystin Hoagland of TX, Isaac Hicks of MO, Nathan Hicks of PA, Josiah Hicks of FL and Jacob Brown of Morley, MO; and four great-grandchildren: Jaelyah, Illaria, Grayson and Waylon.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother,Charlie; sister, Patricia; infant son, Larry Gene Jr. and his ex-wife Jaqueline.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at the New Morley Cemetery in Morley, MO. at 11:30 a.m. with his son-in-law, Rev. Kendal Hicks, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Clewiston, Florida officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Jacob Brown, Isaac Hicks, Nathan Hicks, Josiah Hicks and Brent Powell.
