He was born on August 30, 1953, in Knoxville, TN to the late Rufus “John” and Bobbie Jean Smith Holbert.
On February 7, 2009, in Franklin, TN he married Laura Chaney Knoeppel Holbert who survives of the home in Sikeston, MO.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one step-son, Adam (Leigha) Knoeppel of Sikeston, MO; one step daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Caruthers of Springfield, MO; nine step grandchildren and two sisters, Rhonda Holbert Wilson and Rita Holbert Park of Knoxville, TN.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sikeston, MO.
Interment will be held at a later date at the Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
