William Jasper Cox, of Keithville, Louisiana went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 93. He was born November 16, 1927 in Minden, Louisiana to Lillian Hall and Henry Jasper Cox. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy.
William was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Keithville for many years. He loved the Lord with all his heart and would witness to anyone who would listen. He served his community as Deacon, Choir Director, and Sunday School teacher. He was a talented guitar player. William enjoyed playing country music and songwriting. He would truly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be truly missed by all who loved and cherished him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Frances Cox, Janie Lalena (David) and Renee Van Tiem (David); sister-in-law, Bettye Cox; Grandchildren, Ronnie Anderson, Brandon Van Tiem (Amber), Mindy Thomas (Scott), Shannon Barr (Steve) and Marty Wachtel (Angela); great grandchildren, Hunter Brooks, Cammie Anderson, Chase Anderson, Mason Thomas, Nicholas Claycomb, Samuel Wachtel, Cooper Thomas, Alexia Barr, and Caleb Lalena; great great grandchild, Parker Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Ann Cox; his parents; sisters, Frances Fearrand and Shirley Cox; and brother, Donovan V. Cox Sr.
A visitation for William will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. Following the visitation there will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Park. Bro. Mike Stowell will be officiating the services.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Van Tiem, Ronnie Anderson, Chase Anderson, Marty Wachtel, Hunter Brooks, Scott Thomas and Steve Barr. Honorary pallbearers are David Lalena, Donnie Cox Jr., Terry Cox, Doug Cox, Wayne Medlin, Sam Horton, Jimmy Robertson and Chris Carney.
