Travis C. “Pops” Brown was born on November 9, 1930 to John and Martha Brown in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. He went home to the Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 86.
A visitation for Travis will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 starting at 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. The service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm also held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Dr. Pat Day. Following the service there will be an interment in Centuries Memorial Park.
Travis served his country as a Sergeant in the Marines, where he worked as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic. Upon leaving the Marines, he became the owner and operator of Ray Hardware from 1972 to 1991. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Travis R. Brown with wife Dana, Alan J. Brown, and Gary L. Brown with wife Sandra; a sister, Clotine Dodson; nine grandchildren, Shelbi Hernandez, Morgan Brown, Maggie Brown, Mackenzie Brown, Tiffany Brown, Ashley Young, Emily Matthai, Matthew Young, and Justin Young; and three great-granddaughters, Fara Kate Hernandez, Harper Zepeda, and McKinlee Norman.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 41 years, Mattie M. Brown; and nine siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in honor of Travis to St. Jude Research Hospital.
