Randy is at peace. He is home with the loves of his life, Jesus and Louise, along with family and friends. He and Louise are dancing down the streets of gold, and anyone who knows Randy, knows he is looking for his fishing buddies to find out where to cast a line.
Randolph was born on October 23, 1923 to Abbie Gardner of Greenwood, MS, and Randolph Johnson, Sr., of Bergen, Norway. He attended Fair Park High School, where he was in the ROTC, and was a proud U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. Randy often shared stories with his family about his life, from cranking his father’s Model T, shenanigans in his 1938 Oldsmobile, and adventures in the Navy, to name a few. He was stationed on Guadalcanal during World War II and shared the history of the war in the Pacific. Randy was a simple man who loved and provided a wonderful home for his family. He was always willing and happy to teach or help others, and lived by the motto “Faith, Family, and Friends”.
Preceding him in heaven are his parents, wife of nearly 70 years, his “Lovie-June” Louise, and sister Margaret Watts.
Those who will cherish his memory and legacy are: son, Randall G. Johnson of Doyline; daughter, Connie Watson and husband Keith of Joshua, TX; grandchildren, Garrett, Mollee, Karen, JV, Randy, Crystal, and Patrick. He also leaves behind six “great-grand guys” Dylan, Ryhan, Jase, Chad, Brayden, and Ben, as well as his sister, Betty Green and husband Vance.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Texas, especially Lori, Rose, Lynn, and Renee. You ladies were our angels on earth and we are forever grateful for your compassion, love, and care.
Visitation with the family will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Park. Brother Harrell Shelton will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Airline Baptist Church Building Fund.
Anchors Aweigh, daddy – you will be in our hearts forever.
Until we meet once more, here’s wishing you a happy voyage home!
“Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.”
