Carroll J. “Mickey” Haydel was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late George and Stella Fife Haydel, who both preceded him in death. He honorably served three years in the United States Army before transferring to the Army Reserved serving another four years. Mickey retired from AT&T (Western Electric), where he worked as a manufacturing engineer for many years.
Mickey was a true jack-of-all-trades. He wasn’t one to call a repairman unless it was something he just absolutely couldn’t fix himself. He enjoyed boating and camping. Mickey also liked working on cars and spending time in his shop. He had genuine trust in others and would help anyone who asked, if he could. He is a true character that will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 88.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lynne Crews and husband, Ronnie of Stonewall, LA; son, George Haydel of Keithville, LA; grandchildren, Brian Haydel of DuBach, LA, Michael Crews and Jen of Stonewall, LA and Chris Crews of Logansport; great grandchildren, Kennedie, Madeline, Cole, Jackson and Zachery Crews.
A visitation celebrating Mickey will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71108.
