Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Linda Joyce Gilley Millican, 81, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2022 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Gilley. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will also be Monday afternoon between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Linda was born on September 12, 1941 in Shreveport, LA to Travis O'Neal Gilley and Mamie Marsh Gilley, and left this life on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. She married Thomas Millican "Tommy" on May 20, 1962. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband of 60 years and her three boys Troy, Travis and Trent. Linda and the family traveled to multiple locations while Tommy was serving our country in the US Air Force. Tommy retired from the Air Force in 1980 and the couple settled in Shreveport and joined Emmanuel Baptist Church, where Linda was already a member. She served the church for more than 50 years. She also drove a school bus for Caddo Parish for almost 30 years. Linda loved her family, oil painting, making wood crafts with her husband, working in her yard and spending time with her friends.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Travis and Mamie Gilley.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas Millican; three sons, Troy Millican and Angelica Vargas, Travis and Tanya Millican and Trent and Leila Millican; grandchildren, Trey Millican, Skylar Millican and A.J. Ryan, Cole and Fabiola Millican, Logan Millican, Canyon Millican, Eden Millican, Analeigh Millican, Alayna Millican and Ava Millican; eight great grandchildren, three brothers, Larry and Susie Gilley, Lonnie and Jeanette Gilley, and Steve and Sherrie Gilley; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Cole Millican, Canyon Millican, Trey Millican, Mike Gilley, Gerry Gilley, Bayne Milam and LC Shaw.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Glen Retirement System and also the staff at St. Joseph Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
