Funeral services for Katherine Mary Head Garceau will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA with Deacon Bill Roche officiating. A visitation will be held beginning 12:00 PM until service time. The burial will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
Katherine was born November 3, 1950 to John and Katherine Head. She died December 17, 2019 following a brief illness. She is survived by the love of her life, husband, Dan Garceau; sister, Shirley McMullen (Malcolm) ; niece, Kara Schneider (Aron); nephew, Joel McMullen; aunt, Hilda Jo Burns; cousins, Philip (Nancy Jo) Burns; Nancy (Randy ) Cooper; Stepson, Scott Garceau (Michelle); stepdaughters; Stacey Garceau McDaniel (Perry) and Diane Garceau Ray as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Loved ones that cleared her path to heaven are her parents, John and Katherine Head; brother, Scotty Head, stepson, Mark Garceau (Cecila) and stepson, Danny Garceau, Jr. (Amy).
Katherine touched many lives during her years as an educator in Caddo Parish. She began her career as the Special Education coordinator in 1975. She also served as the principal for Caddo Exceptional School from 1989 to 2002. The people she most impacted are her family. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that was dearly loved. Many joyful and loving memories were made with friends and family while taking family vacations and enjoying countless get-togethers where “Kat-Kat” would often be seen knitting a special gift for someone or playing with one of the numerous babies that were her heart and joy.
