Jimmie Carolyn Davis, 89, was born September 17, 1934, in Russellville, TN. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in Shreveport, LA on March 4, 2024, after suffering from complications of Cardiac Heart Failure. Her parents were Earl Weesner Williams, of Russellville, TN, and Lois Douglas Walker, of Whitesburg, TN.
Jimmie graduated from Morristown High School, in Morristown, TN, and moved to West Palm Beach, FL, to attend nursing school, at Good Samaritan Hospital. There she met the love of her life, Donald Leroy Davis. They married after only 2 months, and remained so for 68 years.
She was a devoted military wife and mother and spent her life loving and caring for both family and friends. As military moves were common, she managed to turn every new house into a home. She was the hardest worker you would ever meet, and her life was filled with purpose. She was an amazing cook and baker, and would never show up empty-handed, usually with a pecan pie or two in hand.
As Memaw, she was second to none, attending every major milestone in Jacob’s life, and always quick to show off the newest photos and accomplishments of her “favorite” grandson.
Jimmie was an Eastern Star member, and a registered member of the First Families of Tennessee and Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Shreveport, as well as serving as a neighborhood watch member in her residential community.
Pastor Joan Iker, of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, will preside over the viewing and memorial service to be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, in Shreveport, on Friday, March 15, 2024, to begin at 10:30 am, and following at Northwest Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery at 12:30 pm, where she will be buried with Don. Lunch will be served following the services by the ladies of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, at 8895 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA.
The family would like to thank Akina and Makaila Helaire for the gift of time and wonderful care that they gave Jimmie, in her last months. The family asks that you make contributions in her memory to Shriners Children’s Hospitals in lieu of flowers.
She is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Donald L. Davis, and her son, Anthony Lee Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Carol Havel (Bill), of San Antonio, TX, and her grandson, Jacob Davis Havel, of Houston, TX , as well as nieces Vicki Little, Susan Shortt, and Linda Maness, one nephew, Louis Pratt, and many dear friends who will miss her sassy spirit.
