Jerry Ann Puckett Hayes passed away on April 27, 2023, and was welcomed home by her heavenly Father. Born on January 8, 1932, Jerry Ann was a graduate of Fair Park High School. She was married to the love of her life, Terry (Terrence) C. Hayes, for 73 years. They have been active members of Summer Grove Baptist Church for 33 years.
Jerry Ann was extremely talented in needlecrafts, crocheting, knitting, tatting and, especially, hand embroidery. She was a nationally known sewing instructor. She was a founding member and first president of the Shreveport Rose Stitchery Guild. In addition to sewing, she excelled in making ceramics and was an accomplished basket weaver.
She is predeceased by her parents, Chester and Helen Puckett. She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Hayes; sons, Gary Hayes and wife Patricia, of Shreveport; Larry Hayes and wife Kim, of Haughton; and Bary Hayes and wife Tammie of Little River, SC; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Kathleen Hawthorne, niece and nephews, and numerous friends.
Visitation will be at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 5pm until 7pm. Graveside services will be held at Centuries Memorial Cemetery, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 11am and officiated by Rev. Dr. H. Murry Hodge.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to The Compassion House of Summer Grove Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Montclair Assisted Living, Elara Home Health, and LifePath Hospice, for their compassionate care of Jerry Ann during her final days.
