Janice Collier Scott, 78, went to her Heavenly Home peacefully on March 14, 2019. She had just celebrated her 78th birthday on the 13th. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Scott and her son, Steven Thomas Scott. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Elmer T. and Margaret Woodard Collier, sister Margaret Dance and husband Huey and a brother-in-law Bob Scott. She is survived by brother Tom Collier and wife Charlotte,brothers-in-law Tony Scott and wife Pat, Danny Scott and wife Dianne and sister-in-law Jeanette Grainger. Also surviving her are nieces Kay and husband James Davis, Beth and husband Greg Waldrop, Tammy and husband Vince Ogrinc, Jennifer and husband Matt Robb, nephews Phillip and wife Bethany Scott, and Daniel Scott and several great nieces and nephews.
She graduated Ringgold High School in 1959 and La Tech in 1962. She earned her Masters of Education-Specialist in Reading in 1967 at Northwestern State University She was also a member of Phi Mu Sorority..
She began her teaching career in Port Arthur, TX. From 1963 to 1969 she was a first grade teacher at Curtis Elementary, then moved to Apollo Elementary as teacher and Title 1 Development from 1969 to 1974 and Title 1 Coordinator from 1974 to 1976. Finishing her career as Program Coordinator at the Evaluation Center from 1976 to 2009. A service celebrating the life of Janice Collier Scott will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2:30 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Pastor Randy Goudeau. Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 until service time.
Honoring her as pallbearers are Phillip Robinette, Greg Waldrop, Vince Ogrinc, Danny Scott and Daniel Scott. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Collier and Jared Evans.
