Carolyn Sue James Williams was called home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, November 27, 2022. She was affectionately called "Sue" or "Susie" by friends and family. Sue was born on January 11, 1949, the second born child and daughter of Herman Frank James and Labrillia Elaine Thomas James, and learned to love the Lord at an early age. She graduated from Coushatta High School in 1967 and then pursued her goal of going to school in Shreveport, Louisiana, to become a beautician. Sue successfully owned and operated her own beauty salon before retiring to take care of her son, David, on a full-time basis. She also raised the children of her late sister, Debra Thompson (who died in 1988), namely, Stella Lorraine Thompson McGuffee and Jason Thompson.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, "Mr. Herman" and "Mrs. Billie," James, one sister, Debra Lynn James Thompson, and one brother, David Carlton James. Her paternal grandparents were Glen Fountain and Minnie Averitt James. Her maternal grandparents were William Elria and Estella Lorraine Page Thomas.
Sue is survived by her son, David Charles Williams, who is a patient at "The Guest House," a nursing home in Shreveport, Louisiana. She is also survived by Stella Lorraine Thompson McGuffee and husband Bryce (and their two children, Daisy Lorraine McGuffee and Beau Bryce McGuffee) and Jason Daniel Thompson, who are the two children she raised who were the children of her late sister, Debra. Her surviving siblings left to cherish her memory are Barbara Ann James Barbo Cobb of Shreveport, Louisiana (and her six children, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren), Charles Edmond James and wife Becky of Eminence, Missouri (and their children, Matthew, Christopher, and Melissa, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and another on the way), Sharon Kay James Blankenship and Anthony of Coushatta, Louisiana (and two children, A.J. and Cody Blankenship), and William Herman James and wife Mindy of Hall Summit, Louisiana (and children Brion Taylor James, Thomas Dyson James, and Austin Trevor James, and two grandchildren). Sue is also survived by her brother Carlton's wife, Sharon Kay Bates James (and their two daughters, Carla Kay James Thrash and Chrissy James Ryland, and two grandchildren). Sue enjoyed being from a large extended family of many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and their children, and will be missed by all.
Sue had preplanned arrangements with Centuries Memorial Funeral Home of Shreveport, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
